On
June 24, 2003 the Robert H. Mollohan Family Charitable
Foundation Community Grant Program presented a grant to the
Shinnston Community Band of Shinnston, West Virginia.
The Shinnston Community Band is a 70-plus member
organization that is dedicated to furthering the appreciation
of music and the arts in the Shinnston Community area.
The band performs a wide variety of musical events,
community events, and area festivals throughout the year.
One of the bands largest performances is the
Independence Day Celebration concert held at the Shinnston
Community Park.
The Shinnston Community Band is open to anyone who can
play a musical instrument and the ages of the members range
from 13-83.
With the help of the grant from the Mollohan
Foundation, the band will be able to purchase new equipment
and music and they will have the ability to enhance their
annual performances and events.
