In order to
promote economic diversification and to support students
pursuing a technology related education, the ultimate goal of
the High Technology Scholar Program is to offer incentives
that encourage students to work in West Virginia after
obtaining a college education. Recipients of the High Technology Scholars Program will
receive an initial $500 award that will be made payable
directly to the student’s college at the start of their
freshman year. Several
scholarship recipients will also be eligible for paid
internship opportunities during the summer, within their field
of study, at a West Virginia company or organization.
Scholarship recipients may also be eligible to apply
for a college loan that could be partially or fully forgiven
if the student decides to work in West Virginia for a specific
numbers of years after college graduation.
Scholarship
recipients will be notified if they are eligible for
internship and/or loan opportunities.
Students must submit a completed application during
their senior year of high school in order to be eligible for
any scholarship, internship, or loan opportunities.
