The
Helen Holt Mollohan Scholarship was established in 2003 to
honor Mrs. Helen Holt Mollohan. In cooperation with her
family and friends, Mrs. Mollohan started the Robert H.
Mollohan Family Charitable Foundation in 2000 to honor her
late husband. Under her leadership as President, the
Mollohan Foundation has awarded numerous scholarships,
facilitated multiple internship opportunities for West
Virginia students, and provided many grants to community
organizations. She is the wife of former United States
Congressman Robert H. Mollohan, mother of three children
Robert Holt Mollohan, Kathryn Mollohan Nelson and United
States Congressman Alan B. Mollohan, a grandmother, and a
great-grandmother.
Born
June 27, 1913 in Gilmer County, Mrs. Mollohan was married in
April of her senior year before graduating from Glenville High
School in 1931. Following high school, Mrs. Mollohan
began her life-long career as a loving mother and wife,
standing supportively by her husband during his 60-year tenure
as a West Virginia political and business leader.
Sharing in her husband's vision of improving the lives of West
Virginians, Mrs. Mollohan has spent her life encouraging
prosperity in her beloved Mountain State. Although her
name has never appeared on a ballot, those who know Helen Holt
Mollohan know that her contributions are well beyond the
public eye.
In
a time when very few women sought college careers, Mrs.
Mollohan spent three and a half years attending Glenville
State College. For this reason, this scholarship will be
presented to a West Virginia female entering Glenville State

Like Mrs. Mollohan, the recipient must exhibit strong
