The Harry C. Hamm Family Scholarship is awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior college student who is in pursuit of a degree in journalism or communications at one of the many West Virginia four-year institutions. Applicants must demonstrate a serious commitment to pursuing and completing one of the following degrees: Journalism, BA; Communications, BA.

Ohio or Hancock county in West Virginia

GPA or higher

Submit a 500 word essay on
the topic: “Why did you choose this field of study and
how do you see yourself using it to make a positive
impact in West Virginia and the community beyond?”
