The
City Cemetery Restoration Project is an organization that aids
the Fairmont City Cemetery in restoring, repairing or
replacing the headstones in the cemetery.
The organization works hard to make the cemetery, which
is located near Windmill Park in Fairmont, WV, accessible to
the general public.
City Cemetery Restoration Project has also helped to
register the site as a historic landmark and to create a
heritage tourism site, which would produce revenue and jobs
for the surrounding community.
The ultimate goal of the project is to complete the
gathering and codifying of the historic and genealogical
information about the individuals, whom have been placed there
to lay at rest.
