On June 22, 2003 Foundation President, Helen Holt Mollohan,
celebrated her 90th birthday with friends and
family. As a
nonagenarian, Mrs. Mollohan has scores of accomplishments to
her credit.
The widow of the late Congressman Robert H. Mollohan was able
to celebrate this particular milestone with her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to personal congratulations from the more
than 200 persons attending, Mrs. Mollohan was presented with a
number of awards and surprises. Her daughter, Kathryn Nelson, joined the Mollohan Foundation
Board of Directors in announcing the Helen Holt Mollohan
Scholarship that will be awarded to a West Virginia student
attending Glenville State College.
To recognize the honored guest’s work and dedication
to her family, friends, and native state, Mrs. Nelson noted
that the scholarship was established at her mother’s alma
mater.
Mrs. Mollohan was also presented with an honorary
degree form Glenville State, as well as a Distinguished West
Virginian Award from Gov. Bob Wise.
The Mollohan Foundation board members join this
remarkable lady’s legion of friends to wish her a happy 90th
birthday.
