The American Legion Post #25 has a primary mission to uphold an
defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to maintain
law and order; to foster and perpetuate a one hundred per cent
Americanism; to preserve the memories and incidents of our association
in the great wars; to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to
the community, state and nation; to combat the autocracy of both the
classes and the masses; to make right the master of might; to promote
peace and good will on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity
the principles of justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and
sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness. The
organization currently has over 65 volunteer members, mainly World War
II and Korean War Veterans.
The establishment adopted the Doddridge County Veteran’s Honor Roll,
containing approximately 3,000 names of all the veterans in Doddridge
County. The Mollohan Family Foundation provided a grant that matched
the amount of money earned in the community for the maintenance of the
board to up to $2,000. The money will be used to redo all the names on
the board and add the new ones as they are identified.
